CASE STUDY: Functional Strategy, Operating Model & Organization Redesign
SUMMARY
An international asset manager entering era of unprecedented change and expansion needed to reevaluate their organization to increase operational leverage and scale strategic services to better support the business at-large.
CLIENT CHALLENGE
A newly appointed CHRO inherited a legacy HR function that had outgrown its “all-hands-on-deck” operating model, and needed immediate insights into a best-fit operating model and organization design that would appropriately support the business now and into the future as the company looks to rapidly build out the key revenue generating pillars of the business, in-line with their multi-year corporate strategy.
OUR SOLUTION
We assessed the current state of the function by conducting 1:1 interviews with each member of the HR team, reviewing client-provided details, and comparing findings to best practices and external benchmarks. After diagnosing root cause challenges across 12-dimensions, we developed a multi-year strategy and strategic projects program, providing the client with an actionable “North Star” vision. To support execution of the strategy, we developed a holistic future state HR org design, including a new target operating model, client segmentation & service delivery model, department charters, and visual organizational change plan.
RESULTS & IMPACT
Developed multi-year HR strategy with 7 tangible actions that drive business-critical talent outcomes, directly supporting the company’s 300% revenue growth goal over next 5 years
Advised CHRO on strategy and org design best practices and provided confidential sounding board for input on nuanced organizational dynamics and other sensitive matters
Designed and facilitated department onsite to clearly communicate HR vision, priorities, strategy, and program roadmap to HR team, gaining palpable buy-in and building team trust in new CHRO
